The Classic Scrub

1. Place 1 tsp (about 3 g) walnut shell powder in a small non-metallic bowl.
2. Add a few drops of water, floral hydrosol or aloe gel and stir to a spreadable paste.
3. On damp skin, massage in light circular strokes for 30-90 seconds, avoiding the eye area and any broken skin.
4. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water and pat dry.

• Face: at most once a week, buffered in a creamy base and applied with featherlight pressure.
• Body: up to twice a week on elbows, knees and feet.
• Skip the face entirely if your skin is thin, sensitive or blemish-prone.

The Essential Patch Test

Patch test 24-48 hours before first use, and go gently - with a physical exfoliant, light pressure and a creamy base are the difference between polishing and scratching. Never scrub over active breakouts, broken skin or irritation. If you have a tree-nut allergy, be cautious: the shell carries little of the kernel protein that drives nut allergies, but patch test carefully or choose a different exfoliant, and ask a professional if you are unsure.
